rss seems nice. I believe this technology has a place in teaching and learning, but a specific place. technology like this is helpful students working on an intense research project where information is currently being gathered on a subject and is updated regularly, the situation in Haiti for instance. An rss needs to be checked daily to get the proper use out of it, thats a lot. For average students in a biology class i dont think they need to be thinking about my class everyday, if they do thats awsome and i would encougage their interest, but i dont want to overwhelm students.
if i am teaching a class that involves the students maintaining a webblog u bettcha i am going to use an rss to moniter the students posts. i might look into an rss feed that goes directly to cell phones that the students might like to use. As a teacher i might like to use an rss for biology to keep my up on interestiong sceince news that would intest the students. i have places now i go for news that work for me and the rss system , at the moment, wouldent help me keep anymore current than i already am.
